WATERVILLE, Maine --- Genevieve Triganne (Point-Claire, Quebec) stopped 36 shots for Colby, but Michelle Cree (San Francisco, Calif.) scored 1:58 into overtime to lift the Trinity College women’s hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play at Alfond Rink on Saturday.
Trinity moved to 8-10-1 overall and 4-8 in the conference, while Colby falls to 5-9-5 and 3-7-3 in the league.
Trinity goalie Isabel Iwachi (New York, N.Y.) had 34 saves.
All the scoring besides the overtime goal happened in the second period. Colby’s Meghan Guay (Falmouth, Maine) tallied just 2:19 into play, but Cree tied the game just over a minute later at 3:32.
The Bantams went ahead 2-1 on a goal by Emilie Wiggin (Belmont, Mass.) at 11:59, but the Mules tied the game less than a minute later at 12:56 on a score by Caroline Voyles (North Oaks, Minn.).
