CLINTON, N.Y. ---- Junior forward Laura Anning scored two third-period goals to break a scoreless tie as Colby College took a 2-0 win over Hamilton College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game at Russell Sage Rink on Saturday.
Colby (11-7-3, 6-4-3 NESCAC) got 23 saves from goalie Lacey Brown, who earned second shutout of the season and improved her record to 9-3-2. Anning now has 16 goals and 10 assists for 26 points this season and reached 90 career points with 49 goals and 41 assists. She tallied at 6:46 of the third period off an assist from Heather Nickerson and added an insurance goal at 17:15 off a pass from Colette Finley. Hamilton (4-11-4, 2-6-4 NESCAC) appeared to tie the game with about five minutes left in the third period when the Continentals pushed a puck past Brown, but the officials ruled that the play had been blown dead a split-second before the shot. Anning's second goal a short while later iced the game.
