SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. –-- Colby College and Elmira College earned victories on Friday at the third annual Saint Michael’s College Holiday Tournament at Cairns Arena. In the opener, Elmira posted a 4-0 win versus Norwich University and then Colby skated to a 5-0 victory versus the host Purple Knights.

In the night game, Colby (3-3-2) received 25 saves from junior Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) and two saves from classmate Shelley Payne (Pelham, N.Y.) to earn the combined shutout win.

Junior Laura Anning (Ingramport, NS) netted two third-period goals to seal the win for the Mules, while Liz Osgood (North Andover, Mass.), Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.), and Elissa Kurtz (Miami, Fla.) each scored a goal.

For Saint Michael’s (2-4-1), junior Melanie Cullen (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) recorded 39 saves.

The Saint Michael’s Holiday Tournament concludes on Saturday with Colby and Elmira at 1 p.m. in a predetermined format, followed by Saint Michael’s and Norwich at 4 p.m.
