WATERVILLE, Maine --- Katy Dissinger (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) and Ashley Peterson (Littleton, Colo.) had overtime goals and then Bowdoin College held on for an 11-10 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's lacrosse Wednesday night at Bill Alfond Field.
Bowdoin improved to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC, while Colby fell to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in league play.
Dissigner, who had four goals and one assist, scored with 1:47 left in the first three-minute overtime period. Peterson then tallied off an assist from Bobbi Dennison (Freeport, Maine) with just 0.7 seconds left for an 11-9 lead after one overtime session.
In the second three-minute period, Colby's Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) tallied with 1:34 remaining from Kate Sheridan (Hingham, Mass.). However, the Polar Bears were able to run out the clock after winning the draw control.
Colby sent the game into overtime with a 4-1 goal advantage over the final 14:31 of regulation. Sheridan got the tying goal at 9-9 with 1:17 remaining.
Sheridan led Colby with four goals and one assist, while Julian had three goals and one assist. Cary Finnegan (West Hartford, Conn.) finished with a pair of goals and one assist.
