AMHERST, Mass. --- Liza Benson stopped 10 shots for Colby College, but Amherst College got the only goal it would need in the first half to hold on for a 1-0 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference women's soccer play Saturday.
Meg Murphy tallied off an assist from Katie Coffey at six minutes of the first half for the eventual game-winning goal.
Laura Williamson had five shots on goal for the Mules, who drop to 6-2-3 overall and 2-2-3 in the league.
Piper Crowell made five saves in goal for the Amherst (8-1-1, 5-0-1 NESCAC) shutout.
The Mules head to University of Southern Maine for a non-conference game Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
