WATERVILLE, Maine --- Molly Duffy (Millis, Mass.) scored her first two goals of the season and added an assist as the Bowdoin College women’s soccer team took a 4-0 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Bowdoin improves to 7-3-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NESCAC heading into Friday’s regular season finale at home against Tufts University at 2 p.m. Friday. Colby falls to 4-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the league with Friday’s home game with Bates College set for Friday at 3 p.m. The Mules will advance to the NESCAC playoffs and earn the eighth seed with a victory over Bates.

The Polar Bears went up 1-0 at intermission after Dana Riker (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored her fourth goal of the season at 28:06.

Duffy went to work in the second half and played a part in all three goals. She had an unassisted tally just 4:13 into the second half to give Bowdoin some breathing room. The game stayed that way until Duffy scored again with 4:33 to play off an assist from Kit Hamley (Bozeman, Mont.). Duffy then assisted on a goal by Celeste Swain (Berkeley, Calif.) with just 1:04 to play.

Kelly Thomas (West Hartford, Conn.) earned her sixth shutout of the season with eight saves in goal for Bowdoin. Loni Pisani (Kanata, Ontario) and Rachel Freierman (Cambridge, Mass.) combined for eight saves for Colby.
