WATERVILLE, Maine --- In a battle of two teams playing solid defense this season, Wesleyan University got the game’s first goal and made it stand up as the Cardinals held on for a 1-0 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s soccer on Saturday.

Wesleyan (5-1-1 overall, 2-1-1 NESCAC) and the Mules (4-3, 1-3) have each allowed just five goals in seven games this season.
