HARTFORD, Conn. --- Julie Denison's first collegiate goal and Colby College's stifling defense was the right combination as the Mules earned a 1-0 overtime victory over Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer on Saturday. Denison scored about 4:30 into the first overtime to help the Mules improve to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC. "The goal was off a turnover by their defense," Colby head coach Jen Holsten said. "Julie was inside the 18-yard line on the left side and shot it inside the near post. She buried it and we charged the field." Colby's defense continues to be the story for the Mules in their solid start to the season. Colby has allowed just one goal in five games behind the defense of center backs Lexi Bohonnon and Su-Lin Del Guercio. Rosie Perkins and Hannah Holbrook play on the outside. "The four of them were like a defensive wall for us today," Holsten said. "Lexi and Su-Lin played in the midfield last year, but we moved them in back for this season. They are two of our best players and are tenacious enough to battle any forward." Loni Pisani earned the shutout in goal and has not allowed a goal this season in about 232 minutes.
