First loss for women's soccer team

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The Colby College women's soccer team lost for the first time this year as Williams College scored three goals in the first 18:42 of the opening half on the way to a 4-0 victory Saturday.

The three-time defending NESCAC champion Ephs move to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference, while the Mules have their unbeaten streak snapped at four and stand at 1-1-3 overall and 0-1-3 in the league.

Sara Wild scored the first two goals of the game and assisted on the final two goals. She had a penalty kick just 6:20 into the contest and then tallied unassisted at 15:19. Williams made it 3-0 when Tyler Rainer scored at 18:42. The Ephs added a fourth goal with about 13 minutes to play.

Jayde Bennett stopped eight shots in goal for Colby, which plays host to Maine Maritime Academy at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
