WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior defender Su-Lin Del Guercio (Parsippany, N.J.) earned New England Small College Athletic Conference women's soccer all-league honors for a third straight year and sophomore goalkeeper Jayde Bennett (Lynn, Mass.) made it for the first time in her first season Thursday.
Del Guercio was on the NESCAC first team after making the second team the previous two years, while Bennett made the team in her first year after sitting out the 2009 season with an injury.
Del Guercio, from her sweeper position, helped the Mules allow just 18 goals in 14 games this year. The Mules gave up two goals or less in 12 of the 14 games and had six shutouts. Colby posted 13 shutouts over the past two seasons. Colby was ranked fifth in the league in goals against average at 1.21 and allowed just five goals during the second half and overtime of games this season.
Del Guercio, a captain, finished the 2010 season with one goal and one assist. She had two goals and three assists in her career.
Bennett played in 11 games and allowed 12 goals while stopping 78 shots. She was first in the NESCAC in saves per game (7.09) and fourth in save percentage (.867). Bennett had a 4-4-2 overall record and recorded four shutouts for Colby (5-6-3 overall).
