Women's swim team seventh at NESCAC meet

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- Chelsea Heneghan was fifth and teammate Mandy Ferguson took 11th in the 1,650-yard freestyle for the Colby College women's swimming and diving team on the final day of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday night.

Heneghan had a time of 17 minutes, 27.30 seconds to earn an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time and post her second top-five performance of the meet. Ferguson also had a 'B' cut time with a clocking of 17:42.99 . Heneghan also teamed up with Sarah Hansen, Jenna Mahaffie, and Charlotte Veazie finished in eighth place in 3:52.09.

Jess Blais finished in 12th place in the 200 backstroke in 2:11.04, while Charlotte Veazie took 14th in 2:14.73 and Patricia Kelly was 15th in 2:17.06. Josie Bazemore took 15th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:31.28.

Williams College won the team title with a final score of 1,961 points, followed by Amherst College in second place with 1,637 points. Tufts University came in third with 1,226 points, while Connecticut College and Bates College rounded out the top five with 1,148 and 917.5 points respectively. Hamilton College was in sixth with 733 points, Colby seventh with 699 points, Wesleyan University eighth with 629 points, Middlebury College ninth with 627 points, Bowdoin College 10th with 599 points, and Trinity College 11th place with 503.5 points.
