MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Mandy Ferguson, a day after breaking a 22-year-old school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finished in fourth place in the 1,650 freestyle for Colby College at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday night at Middlebury College. Colby scored 886 points last year and the sixth and seventh place teams were much closer in points. Ferguson had a time of 17:34.55 to earn an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time in the 1,650 freestyle. She broke the 1,000 freestyle record of Sally White '91 (10:29.59) with a clocking of 10:25.35 on Saturday night. Ferguson also joined forces with Kathryn Lee, Danielle Carlson, and Chelsea Heneghan for a school record time of 7:44.08 (team finished fourth) in the 800 freestyle relay on Saturday. Carlson placed sixth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.62 and teammate Jess Blais also was sixth in the 200 backstroke with a 2:09.24 in the final and a 2:08.95 in a prelim. Heneghan, Kayleigh Monahan, Carlson, and Ferguson teamed to finish seventh in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:36.61.
