Nale reaches quarterfinal round at tourney

AMHERST, Mass. --- Colby College's Tracy Nale (Waterville, Maine) advanced past the second round before losing in the quarterfinals at second singles at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tournament on Saturday.

Nale posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win against Connecticut College's Amanda Roe in a second round match. Nale then fell to third-seeded Kelsey Hughes by 6-4, 6-3 scores in the quarterfinal match.

Colby players Ginny Raho, Alex DeSherbinin and Nicole Veilleux all lost second round matches for the Mules. Raho fell 6-2, 6-1 to Middlebury's Clare Burke at third singles, while DeSherbinin fell 6-0, 6-1 to Allie Rottkamp of Williams in fifth singles. Veilleux battled hard before losing 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 in sixth singles.

Raho and Julie Achenbaum fell to the third-seeded Bowdoin team in the second doubles quarterfinals. Meanwhile, DeSherbinin and Veilleux lost 8-1 to a team from Amherst in third doubles.
