HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- Tara Davidson won at fourth singles and was a winner at the second doubles spot for the Colby College women’s tennis team in a 6-3 loss to Carleton College on Wednesday. Davidson won 6-4, 6-0 in her singles match and joined up with Katie Brezinski for an 8-4 victory in doubles. “Tara and Katie continue to play really well together on the doubles court,” Colby head coach Doanh Wang said. “They have good chemistry and they do a good job carrying each other.” Kathryn Vergeyle had the other win for Colby at fifth singles. The Mules almost had another victory, but Sally Meehan was edged 10-8 in a pro-set after splitting the first two sets with her opponent. “We played with great energy today,” Wang said. “Carleton might have came out underestimating us. We did a good job of keeping our composure and put ourselves in a position to win.” Carleton 6, Colby 3 Doubles: 1: Schmidt/Gudul, Ca, d. Muto/Reaves, 8-4; 2: Davidson/Brezinski, Co, d.
