TERRE HAUTE, Indiana --- Colby College’s Emma Linhard (Brunswick/Brunswick, Maine) advanced to the championship race of the women’s mile run after finishing second in a qualifying heat on Friday at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Linhard, a sophomore, ran in the second heat and had a time of 5 minutes, 1.32 seconds in taking second. Her time was sixth-best of the 10 qualifiers. The top eight finishers in Saturday’s 2 p.m. final will earn All-America honors.
Linhard was seeded sixth coming into the meet with a time of 4:57.89. Wisconsin-Oshkosh senior Ayla Mitchell, who has the best time of the year at 4:45.80, won the other heat in 4:59.99.
