King records fast time in steeplechase

CLERMONT, Fla. --- Anna King provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in her first meet of the season for the Colby College women at a meet held at the National Training Center in Florida.

King finished in a time of 10:48.43 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She was an All-American in the event at last year's national meet. King is just four seconds off the automatic qualifying time.

Erin Beasley won the 200 dash (27.79) and was second in the 100 (13.23) for the Mules. Other Colby winners included: Laura Pomponi in the 400 dash (1:04.32), Abbie Frederick in the 100 hurdles (17.46, tie), Heather MacDonald in the 400 hurdles (1:12.70), Danielle Sheppard in the high jump (4-11), and Emma Linhard  was first among collegiate runners in the 1,500 meters (4:57.69).

Frederick also took a second in the 200 dash (30.21) and Linhard was runner-up in the 400 hurdles (1:13.04). Brittany Tschaen placed second to Pomponi  in the 400 dash in 1:05.50, while Brianna Kondrat took seconds in the discus (118-06) and the hammer throw (141-06).
