Sheppard wins high jump at ECAC meet

NEW YORK, N.Y. --- Danielle Sheppard won the high jump for Colby College with a leap of 5-feet, 6-inches at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Track and Field Championships at The Armory on Saturday.

Sheppard and College of New Jersey's Brigit Roemer each had leaps of 5-6, but Sheppard had fewer misses at the height to earn the win. She was jumping in a field of 21 and earned 10 points for the victory.

Frances Onyilagha placed sixth for the Mules in the 200 dash in 25.78, while Emma Linhard was eighth in the 800 meters with a 2:17.35 clocking. Laura Duff was 18th in the 1,000 meters in 3:03.35, teammate Morgan Lingar took 21st with a 3:05.02, and Brittany Colford had a 3:07.59 for 26th place. Layne Schwab was 19th in the mile (5:13.19), Greta Wells took 20th in the 3,000 meters (10:38.77), and the 3,200 relay team of Schwab, Colford, Lingar, and Duff took 13th in 9:48.71. Courtney Laird, Linhard, Brittany Tschaen, and Brittney Bell were 20th in the 1,600 relay in 4:07.66.

Colby finished in 18th place out of 47 scoring teams with 18 points.
