Barton, Susla lead Nordic teams in opener

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Jake Barton, who has made the NCAA Skiing Championships the past two years, started the 2013 season off with a solid 13th-place finish for the Colby men's Nordic team and Molly Susla was a top-20 finisher for the women at the St. Lawrence Carnival on Friday at Mt. Van Hovenberg.

 
Barton clocked a time of 49 minutes, 54.6 seconds over the 20-kilometer course to help the men finish eighth place, but just two points out of fifth place. Calvin Wright took 32nd place for the Mules in his debut.
 
Susla finished in 44:25.9 over 15 kilometers for the Colby women, who took 10th place.
