BOZEMAN, Mont. --- Colby College's Jake Barton (Morrisville, Vt.) finished in 32nd place in the men's 10-kilometer freestyle technique event at the NCAA Skiing Championships on Wednesday at Bohart Ranch.
On a clear and sunny day in Montana, Barton finished in a time of 27 minutes, 35.4 seconds in the field of 39 Nordic skiers. He will compete in the 20K classical mass start on Friday at 11 a.m. (EST).
Northern Michigan University's Erik Soderman won the event in 25:20.2, while University of Utah's Miles Havlick was runner-up in 25:45.2. Dartmouth College's Sam Tarling was third overall and was first among Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) participants with a 25:53.6.
Skiing shifts to Bridger Bowl on Thursday for the alpine giant slalom. Natalie Biedermann and Cassady Roberts will compete for Colby at 11:30 a.m. (EST). After both runs for the women, Colby's Jim Ryan and the men's skiers begin at 3 p.m.
