WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College Nordic ski teams will compete at the Quarry Road Recreation Area for the first time and the alpine teams will entertain the best Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) skiers at Sugarloaf when the Colby Carnival begins Friday and runs until Sunday.

Alpine events take place on Friday and Saturday (see schedule below), while the Nordic races are Saturday and Sunday.
The Colby alpine teams, led by head coach Danny Noyes, have competed the past two weekends. The Mules have not finished worse than fifth as a team in the four races at the University of Vermont Carnival and the St. Lawrence University Carnival. The men were second in the slalom at UVM and fourth at St. Lawrence, and took fifth in both carnivals in the giant slalom.
Craig Marshall was fourth in the slalom at the UVM meet, while teammates Marc Massie was sixth and Sam Glaisher placed 15th to help the Mules finish a strong second. Jim Ryan took 15th in the UVM giant slalom and Will Randall was 18th.
Massie led the way at the St. Lawrence Carnival, placing a team-best 13th in the slalom. Ryan was 16th and Matt McKenna took 25th for the Mules. Ryan once again led the way for Colby in the giant slalom, finishing in 17th place and two spots in front of Glaisher.
For the Colby women's alpine team, Paige Whistler has the best finish of the season in taking 12th place in the slalom at UVM. Cassady Roberts took 22nd in the giant slalom and Whistler was 26th.
Brittney Ziebell led the Mules at the St. Lawrence event by taking 15th place, while Jeanne Barthold was 27th for Colby. Roberts led the Mules in the slalom by placing 23rd.

The Colby Nordic teams, led by interim head coach Silas Gill, have competed only at the St. Lawrence Carnival. The Nordic skiers will participate in the UVM Carnival next Saturday and Sunday at Trapp Family Lodge.

Jake Barton was 13th in the 20-kilometer race and 18th in the 3K prologue for the Colby men at St. Lawrence. Calvin Wight made a nice debut for the Mules, taking 21st in the 3K event and 32nd in the 20K.

Molly Susla had the first Nordic top-10 finish of the year after taking ninth in the women's 3K prologue. She also was the top placing Mule with her 19th-place finish in the 15K event.
