Wheeler has hot bat for Colby softball in two losses

CLERMONT, Fla. --- Brianne Wheeler (Brussels, Ontario) had four hits and drove in three runs in two games for the Colby College softball team in a 7-1 loss to Lawrence University and a 6-5 setback to Elmhurst College on Tuesday night.
 
Wheeler went 3-for-3, was hit by a pitch, and had a two-run single in the fifth inning of Colby's tight loss to Elmhurst. She had an RBI double in the Lawrence game.
 
Carolyn Bennett (Scarborough, Maine) added two hits and two runs, while Erica Pulford (Glen Rock, N.J.) finished with a pair of hits and one run in the Elmhurst game. Aimee Polimeno (North Woodstock, N.H.) smacked a double, walked, and scored one run. Lauren Becker (Falls Church, Va.) had one hit, a sacrifice, and scored once.
 
In the Lawrence game, Lindsay Peterson (Fairfield, Conn.), Katie Graichen (Arundel, Maine), Meaghan Lewia (Wells, Maine), and Becker all had one hit. Lewia scored the lone run on Wheeler's double.
 
Colby (1-5) will have Wednesday off before playing two games on Thursday. The Mules play Buffalo State at 5 p.m. and Concordia at 7 p.m.
