Bill Sodoma begins his sixth year as Assistant Athletic Director in the 2012-13 academic year after spending the previous five years at Colby College as Director of Sports Information.
Sodoma still has his SID duties and has added administrative work, including coordinating the hiring of assistant coaches, serving on search committees, event management, and previously did facility and field scheduling. He begins his 15th year working in the sports information field.
Besides being responsible for the daily operation of the Department of Sports Information, Sodoma handles publicity for Colby's 32 varsity sports and more than 600 student-athletes.
Before working at Colby, Sodoma was the Director of Sports Information at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. He was in charge of a department that had 24 sports at that time, including two NCAA Division I programs.
Sodoma was the Sports Editor at the Oneonta Daily Star newspaper for three years before taking the job at Hartwick. He was a writer in the sports department before being promoted to editor.
Sodoma has a master's degree in sports management from the United States Sports Academy and a bachelor's degree in communications from Ohio University. He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Atheltic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA).
Sodoma is able to hire Colby students to work in the Sports Information Department. Cliff White '07J won the Warren J. Finegan Award for significant behind the scenes contributions to the success of Colby athletics at the 2006 senior award ceremony. Alexa Lindauer '07 worked with the department for three years and was the Sports Editor of Colby's student newspaper.
Sodoma lives in Sidney, Maine, with his wife, Debra, their eight-year-old twins, Haylee and Keenan, three-year-old daughter Vienna, and son Brennan born on November 26, 2011.
