MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Colby College's Mandy Ferguson (Wilmette, Ill.) took fourth place in the 1,000-yard freestyle and helped a relay team take ninth on the second day of the NESCAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.
Colby stands in 10th place out of 11 teams with 353.5 points and will swim for a final time on Sunday.
Ferguson had a season-best 10:30.01 in the 1,000 freestyle. She also teamed with Charlotte Veazie (Parker, Colo.), Kathryn Lee (Wilmette, Ill.), and Sarah Hansen (Cazenovia, N.Y.) to take ninth in the 800 freestyle relay in a 7:56.81 clocking.
Jess Blais (Rye, N.H.), Josie Bazemore (Wayland, Mass.), Rosie Wennberg (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), and Hansen were 11th in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.19.
Lee took 14th place in the 100 butterfly in 59.71 and Wennberg was a place back with a 1:00.23 (59.98 prelim). Blais added a 20th in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.09 (1:00.71 prelim) and Kayleigh Monahan (Walpole, N.H.) took 21st at 1:01.90 (1:00.96 prelim).
