WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College and Bowdoin College volleyball teams had Wednesday's non-conference match postponed at Wadsworth Gymnasium after the fire department was called to investigate a gas-like smell.

The building was evacuated and both teams were forced to be outside in the cool weather for an extended period of time while Waterville firefighters investigated the smell.

Bowdoin head coach Karen Corey and Colby head coach Candice Parent elected to postpone the match to a later date. Colby (5-0 overall) and Bowdoin (7-0) are scheduled to meet in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match at Wadsworth Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.
