2011 season highlights: Schwab, who was on the NESCAC All-Academic Team, was a top-seven runner for the Mules. She was 59th in the NCAA regional meet, ninth in the Maine State event, 46th at the NESCAC Championships, 89th at Open New Englands, third in the junior/senior race against Bates, 16th at Bowdoin, and 59th at Williams. 2010 season highlights: Layne was 41st at the NCAA New England Region meet and 53rd at the NESCAC event. She also was fifth at the Maine State meet, 84th at the Open New England Championships, second at Pineland Farms, and third in the sophomore/senior race against Bates. 2009 season highlights: Schwab earned a top-15 finish by taking 15th in her first Maine State meet. She was 49th at the NESCAC meet, second in a Colby event featuring mostly younger runners, and third in the season opener in the first-year/sophomore race against Bates and Maine-Farmington. At Colby: Layne double majors in International Studies and Government and has a minor in Anthropology...she is a member of the Relay For Life Committee...president of Colby Social Entrepreneurs...member of the Goldfarb Center Student Advisory Board...she was an intern with Maine Senator Susan Collins...intern with Women's Microfinance Initiative in Washington D.C. the summer of 2011...interned at Vermont HITEC in the summer of 2010.
