2009 season highlights: Roger, a co-captain, was seventh on the Mules in total tackles (29)and third in tackles for loss (4 at minus-24). He also was tied for the team lead in interceptions with two for a return of 29 yards. Bel also played on offense as a fullback and was used for his blocking ability. Roger earned the team's Tom Austin Award for "character, hard work, loyalty, and selflessness." 2008 season highlights: Bel, a captain for the 2009 team, was the only NESCAC football player to be a nominee heading into the current season for the 2009 Good Works Team. He rushed 18 times for 73 yards (4.1 per carry) from his fullback spot. Bel also caught five balls, including one for a touchdown, for 44 yards.  He earned NESCAC Fall All-Academic honors. 2007 season highlights: Bel had 25 carries for 78 yards and also had four receptions. 2006 season highlights: Saw limited time in his first year and had one rush. He did have three catches for 45 yards. At Colby: Roger has a major in Economics and a minor in Administrative Science... mentor for Colby Cares About Kids (CCAK)... co-leader for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC)... Housing/Facilities Advisory Chair... Campus Culture Working Group... works on campus at Colby during the summers. Before Colby: Played football, baseball, and ran track at Ridgefield High School... earned all-state, all-area, and all-league recognition for football... all-league in the javelin.
