Women's basketball ends season with OT loss

MEDFORD, Mass. --- Diana Manduca helped send the game to overtime in her final basketball game with the Colby College women's basketball team, but Connecticut College pulled out a 61-58 victory over the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference play at Tufts University on Wednesday night.

 
Manduca finished with team-highs of 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals. She finished her career with 1,063 points, 332 assists, 321 rebounds, 151 steals, and 143 made 3-point shots. Manduca ranked 14th in career scoring at Colby.
 
Gabe Donahue added nine points and five rebounds for the Mules (8-16 overall, 1-9 NESCAC), while Jen Nale and Carylanne Wolfington both had seven points. Jacky McLaughlin, who had five points Wednesday, finished her career at Colby with 567 points, 223 rebounds, 187 assists, and 89 steals.

Tara Gabelman led the Camels (10-13, 4-6 NESCAC) with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Aly Boyle scored 11 and had seven boards. The Mules stayed in the game by forcing 24 Connecticut College turnovers (Colby had 16).

Colby started off strong and had early 8-1 and 10-3 leads in the first 6:30 of play. The Camels battled back with a 14-2 run to go up 17-12 with 5:46 to play. The Mules were in control the rest of the half, with Manduca scoring six points and Nale five to help Colby take a 23-20 lead at intermission.
 
Colby led for the first nine minutes of the second half, but the Camels came back and took a 47-41 lead with 7:38 to play. Connecticut College still led 53-49 with 4:07 to go when both teams had problems scoring. Manduca finally cut the margin to two points at 53-51 with 2:10 to play and Donahue tied the game with 1:21 left. The Camels' Kaitlyn Cresencia scored inside with just 12 seconds left, only to see Manduca tie the game at 55-55 with a driving basket with three seconds to play.

The Camels led from start to finish in the overtime period, pulling out to a 61-55 margin on Gabelman's two free throws with 1:51 remaining. Manduca nailed a 3-point shot with 46 seconds left to cut the margin to three points. The Mules missed on three field goal attempts in the final 33 seconds.
