WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Jil Vaughan (Wareham, Mass.), who averaged a double-double in scoring and rebounding in a 3-0 week, was named the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week for games ending February 12.
Vaughan also was one of five players named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll.
Vaughan had a double-double in all three games to help the Mules move to 18-5 overall and push their winning streak to five games.
Vaughan averaged 17.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocked shots, and 2.0 assists in wins over Husson University (71-43), Connecticut College (71-56), and Wesleyan University (66-48). She started the week with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks against Husson. Friday may have been her best effort with 18 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks, and three assists. Vaughan capped the weekend off with 14 points, 12 boards, and three blocks in the Wesleyan victory.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Vaughan ranks first in the league in field goal percentage (.577), second in rebounding (9.0), second in total blocked shots (46), and tied for fourth in scoring (13.5).
Vaughan went over 100 career blocked shots over the weekend and also has 855 points and 613 rebounds.
The Mules clinched the fourth seed in the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs and will play host to Williams College on Saturday at 3 p.m. in a quarterfinal game.
