Lauer helps women's cross country take second

BRUNSWICK, Maine --- Colby College first-year runner Eva Lauer has quickly shown her talents by finishing in second place in the 6-kilometer event at the Maine Women's Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
 
The Mules finished in second place with a score of 57 and defeated a strong Keene State squad (60) and three New England Small College Athletic Conference schools in Bowdoin College (72), Bates College (115), and Trinity College (184). Tufts, another NESCAC school, won the invitational with a 49.
 
Lauer had a time of 22:11.51 to finish as runner-up in the field of 131. Keene State's Paige Mills won the race in 21:45.29.
 
Berol Dewdney took fourth place with a 22:16.72, Claire Dunn was 15th in 23:03.48, Layne Schwab was a place back in 16th with a 23:04.52, and Kate Connolly earned a top-20 finish by taking 20th in 23:26.49.
