WATERVILLE, Maine --- Saint Anselm College scored two goals in the final 5:10 of the second period and added an empty net goal in a 3-1 non-conference women's hockey victory over Colby College on Thursday night at Alfond Rink.

Saint Anselm moves to 8-2-2 overall, while the Mules fall to 3-5.

Colby struck first in the game when Samantha Slotnick scored her third goal of the season at 11:22 of the second period off a pass from sophomore defender Carolyn Fuwa, who had her third assist.

In a four-on-four situation, the Hawks tied the game at 1-1 on Kathryn Picarello's eight goal of the season from Rosemarie Giarrusso and Andi Foss. Giarrusso earned her sixth assist of the season.

Saint Anselm went up for good just 47 seconds later when Tiffany Herron tallied off a team-best eight assist of the season from Courtney Winters.

Colby put on the pressure in the final four minutes and Hawk goalie Lindsey Brown was called on to make some tough saves. Saint Anselm put the game away with an empty net score by Winters with 1:05 to play. Alex Kazmer and Herron added assists for the Hawks.

Brown finished with 24 saves, including 13 stops in the third period, for the Hawks. Brianne Wheeler made 28 saves and allowed just two goals for the Mules.
