MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College scored four times on the power play on the way to a 5-1 win over Colby College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference quarterfinal game on Saturday.
 
The top-seeded Panthers (19-3-3 overall) will host the NESCAC Final Four next week, while the eighth-seeded Mules finished the season at 6-17-2.
 
Caroline Chessare scored the lone goal for the Mules in the third period off an assist from Meredith Reynolds.
 
Middlebury scored four goals in a 4:12 span in the second period
 
Colby had its best chance at the 14:40 mark of the first period, but a shot from Karlyn Donovan after a feed from Sylvia Xistris was denied by Annabelle Jones. The Mules had a few looks on a power play at the 16:40 mark, but the period ended scoreless with shots at 10-10.
 
Brianne Wheeler stopped 35 shots between the pipes for the Mules, while Jones made 28 saves for Middlebury.
