Women's Ice Hockey—Season Overview

2008-09 Season Outlook
Colby women's hockey will suit up 18 returning players from a squad that tied the team record for wins (15) in a season and made the NESCAC title game. Last year's team took a thrilling 3-2 overtime win at Middlebury in a league semifinal game before falling to Amherst in the championship game.

Becky Julian '09, an All-NESCAC selection last year, led the Mules in scoring with 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points. Laura Anning '09, a past All-NESCAC pick, was second in scoring with 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points. Anning has 51 goals and 43 assists for 94 career points, while Julian is at 46 goals and 36 assists for 82 career points.

Colby had won eight of its last nine games a year ago before the title game setback. Lacey Brown '09 was a key force in goal during that time and finished with an 11-5-2 record, a .934 save percentage, and a 2.08 goals against average. Brown, who had a 1.70 goals against average in conference games, has a 17-10-5 career record.

Stephanie Scarpato '11 led all rookie players with nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points despite missing some games due to injury. Amanda Comeau '09 (8 goals, 11 assists) and Elissa Kurtz '11 (9 goals, 8 assists) were other leading scorers.

The Mules started out last year at 3-4-2 and then put things together to finish 15-9-3.


2007-08 Season Outlook
Colby will suit up 20 returning players after having few seniors on last year’s squad. The Mules will be loaded with junior and senior talent, including forwards Laura Anning ’09 (33 goals, 31 assists in career), Becky Julian ’09 (28 goals, 21 assists), and Amanda Comeau ’09 (20 goals, 20 assists).

Kaitlyn Conway ’10 was the top first-year scorer last season with four goals and seven assists.

The Mules will be deep in goal with Genevieve Triganne ’08 (1,476 career saves, 25 career wins) and Lacey Brown ’09 (410 career saves) both returning. Trigianne played 858 minutes a year ago and Brown saw action for 680 minutes.
