FARMINGTON, Maine --- Crysti Tsujiura scored the opening two goals of the game and Colby College's defense helped out the offense as the Mules took a 5-0 non-conference win over University of Maine at Farmington in women's soccer Tuesday.
The Mules improve to 3-1 overall heading into Saturday's game at Tufts University at 12:30 p.m.
Tsujiura leads the team in scoring with three goals and has two game-winning tallies. Her first goal at 12:28 gave the Mules a 1-0 halftime margin. Carly Dee had the assist on the play after her shot was stopped, but Tsujiura was there to put in the rebound. UMF (3-2 overall) had a breakdown on defense at 60:58 and Tsujiura made the Beavers pay with a long shot for her second goal.
The defensive pair of Grace Dickinson and Kate Pistel combined on the Mules' third goal to put the game away at 78:39. Dickinson headed in a pass from Pistel and started a quick goal onslaught.
Maddie Tight scored her second goal of the season just 2:21 later when her long shot hooked inside the post. Pistel closed out the scoring at 83:10 with an unassisted goal.
The Mules, who had a 24-6 shot advantage, received four saves from Emily Brook in earning the shutout. Colby also had a 15-1 edge in corner kicks.
