First half blues for women's soccer in loss

AMHERST, Mass. --- The 12th-ranked Amherst College women's soccer team took advantage of scoring chances and had a big opening half in a 4-0 NESCAC victory over Colby College on Saturday.
The Mules fall to 7-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play heading into Sunday's noon game at Hamilton College. Amherst improved to 8-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference.
Colby did have 11 shots in the game and forced Amherst goalkeepers to make seven saves. The Mules also had a 7-2 margin in corner kicks.
Megan Kim scored 8:30 into the contest for Amherst and Colby also lost goalkeeper Emily Brook for the rest of the half due to an injury on the play. Brook did come back for the second half and made three saves while allowing the one goal.
Amanda Brisco, Mel Stier, and Sarah Duffy also tallied for the Jeffs in the opening half.
