WATERVILLE, Maine --- With good scoring chances for both sides, it was Carla Nicasio (Rowayton, Conn.) who scored with 11:40 left in the game to lift Williams College to a 2-1 win over Colby College in NESCAC women's soccer Saturday.
The Ephs stayed unbeaten in the league at 8-0-1 and stand at 10-2-1 overall. Colby falls to 7-6 overall and 3-6 in league play.
Williams struck first in the game and led 1-0 at halftime when Nicasio's hard shot from the left side deflected off Alison Magrunder (St. Louis, Mo.), went high into the air over Colby goalkeeper Emily Brook (Duxbury, Mass.), and went into right corner of the net at 21:40.
Annie Papadellis (Hopkinton, Mass.) knotted the game at 1-1 when Amanda Findlay (Manchester, Maine) pushed a pass to her and Papadellis used her speed to get off a shot for the goal at 52:20.
The Ephs' Hana Tomozawa (Honolulu, Hawaii) had the pass inside the box to Nicasio for the game-winning tally.
Brook finished with seven saves for Colby, while Hannah Van Wetter (Lakewood, Colo.) played the first half and Laura Winn (Palos Verdes, Calif.) played the final 45 minutes in net for Williams. Winn made a diving stop just a few minutes before Nicasio's goal.
