NEW LONDON, Conn. --- Crysti Tsujiura (Scarborough, Maine) scored her first collegiate goal with just 1:02 left in the game to lift the Colby College women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 season-opening come-from-behind win against Connecticut College on Saturday.
The Mules start the year 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Tsujiura, who had started just two games in her first two years at Colby, started Saturday and helped the Mules fight from behind. The Camels had gone up 1-0 at halftime when Lily Cannon scored at 25:36 of the opening half on an unassisted tally.
Senior tri-captain Kate Laxson (Wayzata, Minn.) tied the game for Colby at 64:57 of the contest. She had three shots in the game and teammate Annie Papadellis (Hopkinton, Mass.) had four.
Colby senior goalkeeper Jayde Bennett (Lynn, Mass.) played the second half and made two saves while earning the victory. Emily Brook (Duxbury, Mass.) stopped four shots for the Mules in the opening half. Natalie Signor made six saves for the Camels (0-1, 0-1).
The Mules had all six of their corner kicks in the opening half and had a 6-3 margin. Both squads had 10 shots.
