WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College women's tennis team earned the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Team All-Academic Award and nine players secured ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
Colby's women's program, under head coach Doanh Wang, earned the honor for having a team cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have completed in one or more varsity matches must average in the GPA for the current academic year (fall 2011 and spring 2012).
Senior captain Kathryn Vergeyle (Orono, Minn.), juniors Sally Holmes (Prairie Village, Kan.), Mckenzie Love (Wenham, Mass.), Alex McAuliff (Waterville, Maine), Sarah Wiener (Mequon, Wis.), sophomores Victoria Abel (Carlisle, Mass.), Lucy O'Keeffe (Braintree, Mass.), and first-years Darcy Ahern (Boxborough, Mass.) and Danielle Levine (Andover, N.J.) were on the ITA Scholar-Athlete squad.
Players needed to have at least a 3.50 grade point average for the academic year to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
