LEWISTON, Maine --- Brittney Bell won the 400 meters and Evan Lauer took a victory in the 5,000 meters for the Colby College women's indoor track and field team at the Bates College Invitational on Saturday.
Bell had a time of 1:00.49 in winning the 400 against the eight-team field. Lauer, a first-year athlete, finished in 17:53.31 to collect 10 points.
Colby finished in third place in the meet with 148 points and only trailed champion University of Maine (241.5) and Bates (177.5).
Frances Onyilagha added a second in the 200 dash (26.70) and Emily Arsenault had the same finish in the 3,000 meters (10:56.11).
Thirds for Colby went to Morgan Lingar in the 800 meters (2:28.96), Sophie Weaver with a 11:03.10 in the 3,000, and Brittany Reardon at 9.30 in the 60 hurdles.
Annabelle Hicks finished fourth in the 60 dash (8.08) as did Robyn St. Laurent in the 1,000 meters (3:15.64), Berol Dewdney in the 5,000 meters (18:33.22), and Reardon in the pole vault (10-0.5).
