Relay teams excel for Mules at Aloha Relays

BRUNSWICK, Maine --- Colby College's 400 and 1,600-meter relays were dominant again after easily winning titles at the Aloha Relays on Saturday at Bowdoin College.


Brittney Bell, Brittany Reardon, Emily Doyle , and Emily Tolman had a time of 49.53 in winning the 400 relay. Bowdoin was second in 50.03. 

Alanna McDonough, Kate Riley, Bell, and Doyle took the 1,600 relay in 4:07.29. Bowdoin was more than five seconds behind in second place.

The Mules received second-place finishes from Bell in the 400 hurdles (1:05.06), Catherine McClure in the 1,500 meters (4:50.49), Michele Strage with a 33-10.75 in the triple jump,  Abbott Matthews at 161-08 in the hammer throw, Leigh Fryxell in the javelin (116-04), and Alison Grover in the heptathlon (3,310 points).

Thirds went to Kate MacNamee in the hammer throw (148-06), McDonough in the 400 hurdles (1:05.92), Kate Connolly in the 1,500 meters (4:50.72), and Reardon in the 100 hurdles (15.64).

Colby finished in third place in the seven-team meet with 139 points. Bowdoin had 196, Bates finished with 167, and Southern Maine was fourth at 81.
