TROY, N.Y. --- The foursome of Brittney Bell, Brittany Reardon, Frances Onyilagha, and Annabelle Hicks combined to take second place in the 400-meter relay for the Colby College women at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
The women just missed breaking their own school record in the relay with a time of 47.73. The four had set the school record with a 47.70 at the New England Division III meet a few weeks ago. Ramapo won the race in 47.61.
Hicks took third in the 100 dash and Onyilagha was third in the 200 meters. Hicks was first in the prelims with a time of 12.41 and then had a photo finish for second and third place with Rowan's Shantel Beckford, who had a time of 12.265 to Bell's 12.269. Katisha Simmons of Medgar Evers had a blazing 12.12 to win the event. Meanwhile, Onyilagha had a 25.08 in her race.
Bell was fourth for the second straight year in the ECAC 400 meters with a time of 56.77. Reardon was seventh in the pole vault (11-7.75) and placed 13th in the 100 hurdles (15.22). The Mules also received a solid eighth from Kate Connolly in the 10,000 meters (38:23.81), Leigh Fryxell took 14th in the javelin throw (123-11), and Eva Lauer also had a 14th in the 5,000 meters (18:01.89).
Colby, which finished 10th out of 55 scoring teams with 28 points, had the 3,200 relay team of Laura Duff, Berol Dewdney, Connolly, and Lauer place 17th in 9:51.40.
