Final Exam - time to be determined by the Registrar (we are exam #4 this year).

There will be ONE practical exam based upon laboratory and lecture work (20% of grade) as listed in the laboratory schedule.

Pathology Expert Paper and Pathological Analysis

Due sometime the week of December 6, 2010

The practical presentation will comprise (15%) of your grade. This assignment also includes a short paper describing your histological analysis of an organ or organ system and pathologies associated with it.

The rest of your grade will be based on your classroom and laboratory discussions and presentations, occasional problem sets, and your overall participation in the course (5%) (simply showing up for class and lab is not enough!).

TENTATIVE LABORATORY SCHEDULE

Sept. 13 Epithelial tissues (general)
Sept. 20 Epithelial tissues (glands)
Sept. 27 Connective tissues (loose, dense, and fat)
Oct. 4Connective tissues (cartilage and bone)
Oct. 11Midsemester break - No lab this week
Oct. 18Muscle tissue
Oct. 25Nervous tissue
Nov. 1Review all tissues
Monday, November 8 -- Laboratory Practical Exam
Nov. 15 - Dec. 6 In the remaining laboratories we will be investigating a variety of organ systems and you will be responsible for completing a detailed histological analysis of organ structure and how a variety of pathologies affect particular organ systems. This will culminate in an individual presentation of pathological details to me in lab.
