•Few houses have been built along the shoreline
since 1971
•Shoreline houses:
–1971: 98% seasonal
–2000: 68% seasonal
Even though there has been
a decrease in the percentage of seasonal houses, the majority of the
shoreline houses are still seasonal
The conversions to
year-round houses had increased development in watershed
Year-round houses cause
nutrient runoff from particulates emitted in fireplace usage, the release of
bi-products from oil and gas used to heat houses and the increase in salt
and sand use on roads in the wintertime
