Septic Systems
•
•Many shoreline systems were not designed to handle current use
•New and replacement systems must comply with strict regulations
•Voluntary upgrades may improve lake water quality
Most often these inefficiencies within the watershed arise because many shoreline systems were not designed to handle the current use.

People built summer camps built system for this amount of use, but are now staying for weeks, even months at a time. And is I mentioned earlier, some residents are beginning to stay year round.  This increases the amount of water going through the system and many were not designed for such high volumes.

New and replacement systems must comply with strict regulations that are designed to limit potential contamination.
It is also evident that many people in the community are voluntarily upgrading their systems which may improve water quality.
