here. It was obtained from the
Kennebec Soil and Water Conservation District. What youÕre seeing are locations of the various soil types
within the watershed. Soils are
classified by there physical description and composition. However, the limitations of the soils
for various uses is also included in the description. Septic suitability is one of these
and soils are rated as suitable, moderately suitable, and unsuitable. Soils that are either too porous or
too clayey do not filter effluent and the septic system fails. Nutrients are not processed and end
up in the lake.
