Challenges for Threemile Pond Remediation
¥Multiple Towns
¥Non-point Sources
¥Nature of a lake system
¥Cost/benefit analysis
There are some challenges to Remediation of Threemile Pond that must be realized before an improvement plan can be successful.
3MP is a lake positioned in four towns each w/
Differing regulations/policies and  Differing priorities
Because of this,
Communication & Cooperation are important for the common good of the lakeÉ

The fact that 3MP is a body of intermixed water with no obvious point source of pollution, it becomes even more difficult to target specific sources for improvement. This reemphasizes the need for overall watershed management in addition to an in-lake treatment.

A Cost benefit analysis involving social, environmental, political and recreational priorities is necessary to determine which improvements are sufficient and acceptable, based on the needs of the community.
