¥Auquatic Flora and Fauna are important to the storing and cycling of nutrients in all lakes

¥Flora such as Aquatic Plants and Fauna such as fish nurseries, waterfowl, periphyton, and insects, oxygenate water, absorb nutrients, stabilize shoreline
¥Fish are a particularly important fauna to Threemile Pond. It is a warmwater lake, so it has warmwater fisheries,
¥The most common fish in the lake are Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white perch, yellow perch, chain pickerel, and rainbow smelt
¥The MDIFW has been stocking TMP with appoxiamtely 1100 Brown trout since 1978 at a cost of approximately $1500/yr.  Brown Trout survive well in Threemile, though they cannot spawn, and they are an important fishery for anglers who come to the lake.
¥The MDMR has been stocking TMP with several thousand Alewives ANNUALLY since 2001.  Alewives are an important source of food for carnivorous fish, and they are also an important bait fishery for MaineÕs lobster industry.
