One particularly important plant to consider in all lakes are invasive aquatic plants.
Illegal Invasive plants are non-native species that have no natural competitors, are self-regenerating in many habitats, and choke out native species. Maine has a list of eleven of these types of plants, which are illegal to sell, propagate or introduce.

It is possible for even a single fragment of an invasive plant on a boat prop to lead to the infestation of an entire lake or shoreline.

TMP currently has no illegal invasives, and Maine has a developed program for volunteer boat inspection, lake monitoring, and community education.
