Dissolved oxygen profile for Threemile Pond on 15-Aug-03 and 11-Sep-03.
-Dissolved oxygen is a measure of the concentration of oxygen dissolved in the water column.  Dissolved oxygen is influenced by a variety of factors,  including lake basin, depth, and nutrient levels, but most importantly by temperature. Cold water holds more oxygen than warm water.   As Jess just described, in the summer months, due to stratification, the bottom layer of water-the hypolimnion, can become oxygen depleted, or  anoxic, with oxygen levels below 1ppm..
Profile- taken in august and september
-clearly stratified
-Aug:lake becomes anoxic at 7 m depth
-Sep; lake becomes anoxic at 9 m depth
