*The primary objective of this study was to determine the ecological health of Togus Pond which includes its
trophic state, capacity to support wildlife, ability to support the current level of development or future growth in development, and its safety for recreational use by nearby residents and visitors.
*Pollution of the lake by chemicals or sediments lowers water quality, affecting all of these factors.
So the best indicator of the ecological condition of the lake, is its general water quality.
*Land use patterns in a watershed have a significant impact on the health of an associated water body.  Different land uses produce different types and amounts of both man-made and natural pollutants.
*By monitoring water quality we are able advise planning for future development and protection of the lake.  We developed a Phosphorous Loading Model that was used to predict the effects of further development on nutrient loading in Togus Pond
*Having identified the most important issues of lake water quality and land use, the next step is to learn how to improve them.  We will present a variety of commonly used techniques in this report for improving lakes with poor water quality
