In the land use assessment,
we produced maps of the land use patterns of the Togus Pond watershed in 1954
and 2002, and also analyzed the land use changes that have occurred between
1954 and 2002.
We used GIS, or Geographic
Information Systems, to conduct the land use assessment, and I will be
discussing the methods involved in this process.I will also define the classifications of land use types
that we used in the analysis, and I will describe the impact of each type on
the lake water quality.
Finally, I will give an
interpretation of the land use changes that have occurred in the watershed
over the past 50 years.
